Belly Monster
written by: Jenny Korotko ATR, LCPC, SEP
Belly Monster shares a personal journey of healing from trauma, addiction, and emotional pain. It highlights the power of healthy relationships, self-love, and body-based therapies like Somatic Experiencing and Art Therapy. This book encourages readers to face their emotions with compassion, offering hope and guidance for recovery through connection, creativity, and mindful care.

Belly Monster is the story of a healing journey—woven from five years of quiet reflection, fierce courage, and tender transformation. It began in a secluded cabin, where the seed of this book took root during a moment shared with a dear friend. Since then, the pages have been filled, erased, and rewritten—a dance of words and emotions, striving to give voice to the unspoken wounds we carry.

As a trauma therapist, I have gathered these stories not just for myself, but for all who seek light in their own darkness—offering a balm of understanding, validation, and hope. Soon, at the Hedgebrook Writer’s Residency, I will cradle this work in its final stages, readying it to step into the world.

Writing Belly Monster has been like preparing for a birth—nurturing fragile truths into presence and strength. It is with deep gratitude and anticipation that I invite you to meet this book, and may it guide you gently along your own path toward healing.
