FAQs:

You don’t need a focused goal to benefit from the retreat.  Just staying curious and exploring will give you a healing boost through creative, engaging, and  intriguing workshops.

Q

What is Belly Monster: Healing Retreat about?

A

It is an emotional, spiritual and possible physical healing retreat where participants choose what they want to focus on and determine how deep they want to go. It is a retreat that features a variety of what is healing modalities not everyone has access to or is aware of.

Q

Do I need to have any therapy experience or knowledge of the featured modalities?

A

Not at all. It is probably best to come in without much prior experience or knowledge. These modalities are best experienced if the participants can stay out of their cognition (head) and be present in the experience by noticing how things feel.

Q

What if I don't want to share or talk much? Can I still benefit from this retreat?

A

Belly Monster's main priority is to be a safe container with attuned, compassionate witnesses.  It has been said that 90% of the healing comes from being in a safe container with people who are offering their regulated presence.  Having a healthy witness (in this case the workshop providers and volunteers) is key to healing.  You just need to be seen and feel the space being held to benefit, you do not have to share or talk to benefit from the workshops.

Q

This looks great, but also really intense, I am a little intimidated so not sure about signing up

A

You are not alone. It does look great and intimidating at the same time. This is why we are emphasizing that everyone is invited to go as deep as they are comfortable.  If you just come with curiosity and that is all that you work on, noticing what you learn from different workshops, that in itself is great self care.

Q

Should I come alone? Is it okay to bring a partner or friend?

A

You will be working in groups at times so keep that in mind.   You can come alone, with friends or with your partner(s). All options have their benefits and you know your situation better than anyone.

You can come with people you know but choose to work with others in small group exercises

You don’t have to participate in small group exercises, if you don’t want. The co-creators Amy and Jenny are extremely approachable and happy to answer any further questions.

You are not expected to share ANYTHING you don’t want to share including art made in the workshops or writing written in the writing workshops.

Q

I am still confused, what are we going to do?

A

We have a schedule listed in the Belly Monster retreat tab for further details.  In summary you will be starting out by getting a sage ceremony by Micky Bluestone in order to invite presence to the process of healing whatever it is that calls your attention to be healed. We will go into some circles for some guided getting to know one another conversations.  Every step is designed to help us all titrate our nervous systems into a state of feeling safe.  Without safety it can be difficult to process wounds so creating a safe container is absolutely the main focus throughout the weekend. We will be working through things we are called to work on such as anxiety, depression, chronic stress, grief or negative self talk by processing our symptoms through a variety of healing modalities.  If you come without any one thing to focus on you will still gain a wealth of knowledge on how to calm your nervous system during times of stress.
